:: FINE twenty NINE

Nearly fourteen years ago, a one, Jennel Davoren walked into my life. Humble beginnings, from the classrooms at Jones High School, Jennel, has been an A-1 since Day-1. The homie. The rider. The Frick to my Frack. Jennel has been a radiant being in my life. And, I am more than grateful that the good Lord has allowed me to see yet another year of life with her in it.

She is truly a gem. And a one-of-a-kind friend. Saving all the mush - because she knows my heart and where she stands in it - I want to take some time to jot down this birthday wish for her twenty ninth birthday:

As you know – and if you don’t, you know NOW – today is my one my Best Friend’s born day. Unlike the rest, she withstood the test. The test: of time. Well over a decade in, we are stronger than ever. Growing. Flourishing. Queening. Gracing those around us with the melanin God took His time mixing up. Jennel has been a thick and thin friend. The up and down friend. Even some of the arounds. The in-betweens. The through and throughs. She’s has been there. And I don’t have the words I NEED to thank her – but I know she knows. Davoren, aka Frick, I wish you the HAPPIEST of birthdays. May you continue to slay on the haters. Snatch up the edges of those who THOUGHT. Silence the less than smart with your savage petty wit. And of course, boss your way through law school and earn this degree!

SHINE my dear friend. It doesn’t take a whole day, as Common once said, to RECOGNIZE sunshine. So, SHINE. And watch how those around you too, will shine for you.

NOTE: Technically her birthday is on the 3rd, but because I drop my posts intervals of five, this post is actually a couple days late. That is just the OCD way I curate my blog. But, okay, my ramblings are done now.
