:: Building HIGH
In a morning devotional, shared by a dear friend of mine, we were gently reminded that, "Our Divine Conductor knows the timing of our growth." Even more so, "God is building things in 'us' and knows how long it will take for 'us' to develop the qualities necessary to survive 'our' own prayers." His timing, is ALWAYS on time - even despite our own thoughts of what our timing should be. Each of our journeys is tailored to us and the growth we are to make according to His plans for us. This is not to say, that at times, we fall short. This is not to say, at times, we get derailed. This is not to say, at times, we are discouraged. This is not to say, that we will have our doubts. Rather, we will fall short, we will fail, we will be discouraged, and we will have doubts. That is what being human, rather, being ALIVE, is all about. Gloria Naylor, once said, in an eloquent quote, "... I don't believe that life is supposed to make you feel good, or to make you feel miserable either. Life is just supposed to make you feel." And that is the thing: FEELING. Pain demands to be felt. Happiness demands to be felt. And growth demands the same of us: to be felt, be it good or be it bad. Growth is growth. Growing pains: be it a lesson or a blessing, it is all necessary. It is what makes us, us. No matter how we grow, the point is to GROW.
I say all this to say, that in this process, we also must realize that we cannot compare our stages of growth to anyone else around us. We must take heed to appreciating how far our very own selves have come. We must also be grateful for all that is awaiting us. For, good things, are waiting. If we believe that to be so. Instead of worrying about where think you should, could or would be if x, y, and / or z happened, aim to let your growth NOW, your successes NOW, speak for themselves. As Assante, from the podcast, The Friend Zone, once said, “Lay low and build high.” Don’t worry if people question your direction(s). They will understand once you get there. Work on you. For you. By you. At the end of the day, you must LIVE with the life you create and build for yourself. No anyone else. Only you. For as long as God plans to give you the time He sees fit, you must use it to make life up to be what you want it to be. He will help you. Always.
Though this is all easier said than done, trusting in His timing for us, is vital. Even more so, trusting in your own strength, your abilities, heck, trusting in your own SELF, is major key. You are your only downfall – you are your own biggest critic. So, respect your own self enough to protect your time and energy, to use your time and energy wisely, and to flow at the rhythm of YOUR OWN life and not that of those around you. Those around have their own rhythms. Their own timelines. Their own chapters to read. Give yourself the time you deserve. And in a colloquial declaration of empowerment: RECLAIM your time. For You.
So, be great for you. No one else. Just: YOU.
